Toshiba SDH-400
SW: 9.1-01-2-264

TiVo S2 [originally 40GB]
SW: 9.1-01-2-240

When transferring widescreen files to the TiVo unit, the letterbox bars at top and bottom are a periwinkle blue. Same files transferred to the Toshiba shows black bars.

Doesn't seem dependent on anything [file type, size, etc.]. It's persisted across pyTivo host OS [Ubuntu, then Windows, now Fedora 8] and pyTivo releases [currently running an wmcbrine from maybe a week ago].

Anyone else see this?

Hmm this sounds like a result of the TiVo?? If you have a tivo that can handle 16:9 it adds the bars to the top and bottom. Odd colored bars are strange though

I have a Tivo Series 2 (single tuner) 80 hour and have the same issue. Sorry I don't know if it is the same color as I only know primary colors or hunting colors.

I was wondering if there is a setting to pad the video out and fill in with black. I don't want burn in on my tv.

My tivo, I don't think, is made for widescreen but my tv will zoom in to mostly fill the screen. It just doesn't get rid of all the blue filler bars.
Thanks

You could try "aspect169=False".

Strange.

The other week, I noticed that I was getting a full-screen periwinkle blue whenever I was dropping to Live TV or going into HME applications (nothing pyTiVo-related). This was only on my basic-cable S2 (not my S3 or THD). I thought something was wrong with my TV or something. Eventually, a reboot fixed it and it went back to black.

That appears to have fixed it. Thanks.
