OK, I am a complete newbie to pytivo/python or whatever other names there are I have a Tivo series 3 and would like to stream video & photo's to my tv. Are these the programs I need to use, if so are there any dimwit instructions to follow. I did read that a program python is not compatable with Tivo series 3, is this still the case.
ps. Before posting I did browse and try and find instructions.
thanks in advance. any help appreciated. |

Moved to the Support forum as this is really a support question.
pyTivo works fine with Series 3 units. Not sure what you read that said it wasn't.
pyTivo is written in the Python programming language. In order to run Python programs, you need the Python runtime environment which you may or may not already have.
Are you on a Mac or on Windows?
Also, pyTivo doesn't "stream" videos. It transfers them to your Tivo so they show up in your Now Playing list. Tivo of course allows you to watch the videos while they are transferring. If you want true streaming (watching without saving on the Tivo) then there are other packages that do that. |

There are simple instructions (see for instance the site linked to the word "pyTivo" at the top of the page... when it's up). There are no "dimwit" instructions. If you think of yourself as a dimwit, then my recommendation is that you use TiVo Desktop.
pyTivo has worked with the Series 3 since TTG/TTCB was enabled for the Series 3, but that was about a year into its existence, so there was a time when it didn't work. And of course it didn't do HD at first. But all that is long ago. _________________ My pyTivo fork |

I am a windows user. Can you tell me the 'other' packages that stream video to Tivo? thanks for the advice so far.
