When I download and extract that link, I get a whole folder, not just an ffmpeg file.
Do I put all of this into the bin folder in the pyTivo directory? |

ffmpeg.bin
libavcodec.dylib
libavdevice.dylib
libavfilter.dylib
libavformat.dylib
libavutil.dylib
libpostproc.dylib
libswscale.dylib
Are the files that extract, no plain ffmpeg
PyTivo says no ffmpeg is found |

| I have tried a pyTivoX installation, and it works, but will not transfer mkv files. I was able to transfer and view an mp4 file, but when I try the mkv file, the blue light turns on for about 1 second and then acts like the transfer is complete. When I select in in the now playing list it immediately asks me if I want to delete or keep the recording with no video. |

Yes. This is how rdian06 built it. Point your ffmpeg path to the ffmpeg.bin file. Keep them all together.
/Applications/pyTivo/bin/ffmpeg.bin
or
/Applications/pyTivo/bin/ffmpeg/ffmpeg.bin _________________ My pyTivo fork - Read link for changes

pyTivoX is very old. Not sure what its trying to do.
Pushing MKV files generally works as well as MP4 files on the latest pyTivo with a few caveats. _________________ My pyTivo fork - Read link for changes

| It's working! Thank you so much for your expertise and being patient with my lack of expertise. I appreciate all your help so much! The ffmpeg.bin seems to have fixed it and it is transferring an mkv now |
