Is there a way to better sort folders with 300+ Files in them? All my movies are listed in iTunes, under Movies. Now I have everything broken down into Genres with correct metadata in iTunes to use with the AppleTV. Now with AppleTV its all broken up into Genres so I don't have just 1 folder with 300+ items. Is there a way to get pyTivo to sort by Genre using the metadata I already have in iTunes? Because right now if my son wants to watch Toy Story I have to scroll down so many pages and this is getting annoying. I cannot break up the movies into seperate folders because that will mess up iTunes/AppleTV. If anyone has any advice on how to do this I would really appreciate it.

I have a similar problem with TV Shows as they are all in iTunes and if I go to The Simpsons it lists them all as 1 folder (as it is in iTunes) so going to Season 6, again I have to scroll a ton.

Thanks!

Jeff

Firstly, what OS are you using?
On one of my Windows XP boxes, I use a HARDLINK to make "zero byte copies" of files in different folders. A HARDLINK is treated differently than a shortcut, and basically creates pointers in different folders (on the same drive) to the same file.

I'm not a Mac user, but I did find this: http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=2001110610290643, if you wanted to go the "link" route. I imagine it would be a manual effort to create the links, unless you could script it somehow. Something like read the itunes metadata, and create directories and links from that.

Thanks for the suggestions, but apparently I was running an old version of PyTivoX and with the new one I can "push" shows to TiVo and opening up large directories via the web is a lot quicker AND I can use Metadata that way. So I am just going to go that route, but thank you for the suggestion!
