|
|
I have been using Metagenerator to provide metadata for my .mpg files and it works great albeit a manual process.
But I notice that PyTivo does not really read the existing metadata from my .tivo files. I do get the full metadata information through tivo desktop for the same recordings.
I was hoping to be able to create a similar presentation no matter where the video came from.
Is this the way it works, or am I just not doing something right?

pyTivo doesn't read the .tivo metadata, but when you transfer the file back the Tivo will.
(This is unless wmcbrine works some tivodecode magic like he did with push...)

| I just tried it... I cannot seem to register tivocom.dll. It might be a configuration problem with Windows Home Server...

| Can you run the program on a client computer and reference the .tivo files on your Windows Home Server?

How do you know it's this? Do you get a message during install? Or at run time? Are you trying to register it manually?
The current version of PyTivoMetaGen will not generate output files unless your TiVo MAK is in the Windows Registry. It doesn't blow up -- just says it processed zero files. Normally you would have to install TiVo Desktop to get the MAK in the Registry.
However I have created a version that gets around this by having you enter the MAK (one time only, the first time you run). If you think that might be the problem download the attached zip.
Install the "normal" version of the program (if not already installed) then replace the executable with the one in the attached zip. If you run it on a PC without your MAK in the registry, it should ask you to enter the MAK the first time you run.
