======================================
So here is the beta version. Remember BETA!
I first want to thank DLFL for his hard work on the creating the meta data files part of the MG. He's been a great help and has contributed a ton to this!
The initial release has most of the features that I want in it, but is probably somewhat buggy and the UI needs polishing...but the actual functionality is there.
What is new:
--multiple searches. You can now search for any number of TV shows, Movies, etc and view all the results
--multiple data sources. Right now, there is 2 data sources for each kind of search. I have made it pretty easy to add sources as I get them so if anyone knows of another data source (besides IMDB ), please let me know and I will add it.
--We have also add the ability to allow MG to create meta data files other than pyTivo. Right now, that's all it has, but there is no reason why we couldn't add another output type if another application could use this. So that means that MG is not just pyTivo specific anymore
--delete searches when you are finished
WHAT'S NOT THERE YET:
--Generic meta data files. there is a button there, but it does nothing yet. It shouldn't be too hard for me to add, but I know that everyone wanted movie searches back so we concentrated on that
--auto updates. I will in the future implement a a way to actually install MG and then have it check for updates so that you don't have to worry about checking here and redownloading it. I know how to do it, I just have to find the time.
----
Now, please use it and let us know. I know that there will be some tweaks that need to take place, and I also know that some bugs will exist as well. Please let me know if you find anything.
Hope you enjoy!

Looks great and it works. Haven't been able to pull up any movie information from IVA or theMOVIEdb but Netflix works.
A suggestion, is there a way to add a browse button to look a folder or file location for the movie that you want to get the information for. Presently I unpack all the movies to a folder and then go to use your program for the ones I need to get the info. So in essence I go through the list of files and see which one s are missing the text file of information.
Again thanks fort all your hard work. |

WOO HOO!
It's great to have MetaGenerator back for movies!
So far, Netflix seems to work great. The output appears to match my 'hand-created-from-the-Netflix-site' files (other than a few more genres and actors -- I got lazy doing it by hand).
The only thing I noticed was that it seems to be adding an empty 'episodeTitle : ' line to the metadata file.
Thanks for your excellent work on this! |

It would be great if Pytivo could use the album art you see in metagenerator.
Again, GREAT JOB!! |

The TiVo doesn't request album art. (You can see some discussion of album art in the HMO spec, but they were suggesting it as a future expansion -- which they've never implemented.) And pyTivo can only provide what the TiVo requests.
There are some HME-based music players that can provide album art. _________________ My pyTivo fork |

I know I use Galleon for my music and for photos. With music it d/l album art and sometimes you can even get the lyrics.
Just thought it might be a great addition if it work out. I am going to post it to tivo as a suggestion. |

| Yes, I've been using it a couple of days now, and you've created some very nice features. There is a stability problem, however. Fairly frequently the app will throw an exception when selecting a metafile, and I have to try the selection again. |

The new interface is great and it is truly great to have the Movie function available again. Great work and thanks.
One question though, after I save a metadata file, the app returns to the metadata screen rather than the episode panel as the older version did. Was this intentional? It's not really a big deal, but there doesn't seem to be much use to return to the metadata screen after you've saved a file. Just my $0.02 and asked more out of curiosity rather than a complaint.

Yeah, I forget to fix that before the release...
I'll fix that no problem.
Irhorer: When it happens again, can you give me the details of the exception that's thrown? Can you describe exactly what you were doing to throw the exception? I would like to get that fixed if possible.
Also, what is everyone's opinion on the viewing metadata UI? I am not fond of it, but I can't think of a better way? Any suggestions? _________________ MetaGenerator

| Do you want feedback/problems from someone running this on Ubuntu via "mono" or is that out of the scope of what you're dealing with right now? |

Hey, thanks for your efforts on this, I've been waiting some time for movie support!
I've made some meta files for some of my movies and television shows, but I find the application crashes frequently. Is there some particular information I can provide to help troubleshoot the problems? |

Probably out of the scope...this was made for windows exclusively, so I am not sure if I want to support it in mono right now.

if you can tell me what you did to make it crash, that would be great. Tell me what movie/show you searched for, etc _________________ MetaGenerator

A TV search of theTVDB for Dexter, season 1, episode 12 (Born Free) will do it. The exception comes when I click Save on the TV Show Metadata window. If I do a TV search for the same thing using TVRage I get the exception when clicking on the Select Episode button.
Doing a movie search of Netflix for Be Kind Rewind (2008) throws the exception when I click the select button with the movie title highlighted in the result list. Using TheMovieDB, I can successfully get meta data for this movie.
These exceptions seem to happen every time.
I did get some intermittent exceptions with other searches, but they worked after closing and opening the application again. Starting a new search each time seems to lessen the likelihood of the intermittent exceptions, reusing a search seems to make the exceptions more likely.
If there's any further details or info I can provide I'm happy to help, just let me know. |
