Hello everyone. I'm running pyTivo under Fedora 10 and found that after a successful transfer, my pyTivo shares disappear from the "Now Playing List". Restarting pyTivo solves the problem, but it happens after every transfer.
I also noticed that my shares disappear during a transfer.
Using tcpdump, I can see that pyTivo is still broadcasting on port 5353 (I believe this is zeroconf) and my TivoHD is also responding on the same UDP port.
Moved to the Support forum since this isn't a development related question.
I've seen this happen on Windows because the Windows Firewall will block incoming UDP 5353 a short time after pyTivo is started. Since UDP is stateless, the firewall doesn't realize pyTivo is still listening on the port so it blocks it after some timeout. The fix on Windows is to put an exception in for it.
Thanks for the suggestion rdian06. I added UDP port 5353 to my iptables config and all is good!
Now I just have to figure out why ffmpeg is not recognizing the audio stream of my ripped dvd. I'll do more research and create a new post under the "support" forum.
