I like that:
SeriesName-S01E03-EpisodeTitle
Would be great. I had hacked once and gotten close to that.
The problem I had was the Tivo truncates names on display (well, except on premiers v14 software, which allows much longer names displayed), so most of my programs were being '...' truncated somewhere in the series eps number stuff |

I actually don't have an issue with truncation. With the template and hacked metadata on the mainscreen I just see:
SeriesName
SeriesName
SeriesName
[Folder]
SeriesName
In the folder I see:
S01E03-EpisodeTitle
S01E02-EpisodeTitle
S01E01-EpisodeTitle
The reverse order is due to file date/time stamps.
It works for me, but as was pointed out if pyTivo is updated with a feature I want then I'll have to revisit this issue. |

If you modify the metadata generation tools to produce non-compliant metadata, then official changes to the pyTivo code or the official templates may cause problems when using your existing library of metadata. |
You are correct, I did miss that, thanks for the clarification. Funny since I was JUST updating the metadata for my library of shows...
Also may explain why your most recent template (I only saw the one on 2/13/10, were there others?) worked until I mucked up the metadata format.
Sadly I just don't have the XML knowledge to change a template to do what I need. I'm actually running 2 media servers with pyTivo, so if someone felt like building a template like "SeriesTitle-EpNum-EpTitle-and-EpNumber-preceeds-EpTitle-PadEpNumber" but with EpNum in SxxExx format, I'd be happy to test it. |
So my Feb 2010 hacked templates essential do what you want, but without the S and E. You just get a 4 digit number for season and episode. I thought about adding the S and E, but decided to save the letters to make more of the episode title visible. |

Actually, not exactly. Sorry I've made this confusing, but it seems I got confused as to which template I ended up using to get the results I wanted.
I've attached the template I used, with a pytivo build from Aug-09. and if your kind enough to modify them for me then I'll own you even more adult beverages of you choice if you're ever in the Chicagoland area. |
