| I am not getting any feedback on Linksys forums so thought I would try here. A Charter technician suggested I upgrade the firmware on my wireless router because I was having internet problems. I did the upgrade and now when I transfer video from my Mac to the TiVo, the video has tiling. It was perfect before the update. I have not tried resetting my router, which Linksys suggests you do after a firmware upgrade. The reason I haven't done this is because they also tell you to set it up from scratch after resettting it. I know I would never be able to figure out how to set it up myself and now that it is out of warranty, Linksys won't help me unless I pay them $30 per call. I figure I may as well buy a new router --like as Belkin, if it comes to that. I was wondering if I could just backup my settings (which I did) and reset the router, then restore the settings? Does anyone know if that would work? Or does it have to be set up manually? |

You might mention your router model. But, how many settings can there be? _________________ My pyTivo fork . My page |

I thought I posted an answer a while ago, but just looked at this thread and don't see it. If anyone is interested, the Linksys router and transferring video to the TiVo was having a problem for about a month, then out of the blue it started working just fine again. In the meantime, I replaced the Linksys with an Airport Extreme and everything still works great.
One little odd thing I am curious about--yesterday, I was transferring a couple of videos to the TiVo via PyTivoX and before the video transfer was complete, my internet got disconnected. I unplugged the modem and the Airport Extreme (which is the router) and reset it, plugged stuff back in and got it working again. I thought for sure my video transfer would have been interrupted but it continued and finished. I don't get it. One time I accidentally quit PyTivoX and had to start the video transfer from scratch but apparently, interrupting a transfer by unplugging the modem and router doesn't affect it? |

Yes, it's able to recover from interruptions as long as it's still running. And videos that don't require transcoding can be resumed even if pyTivo has to be restarted. _________________ My pyTivo fork . My page |
