This has been going on for a long time. I found out it's because pyTivo. Because I moved my server to a Tonidoplug2 and had to re-install pyTivo. When I did TiVo desktop worked again.

But now it's stopped again. When I go to transfer a video from my computer with TiVo desktop both are HD TiVo's will say it will transfer after the previous recording. But it never does. It like it does nothing.

I think this only started after doing the first video to TiVo with pyTivo.

I guess I could un-install pyTivo and install it again, that my fix it till I do the first transfer from pyTivo. I did stop pyTivo from running and it's been a few days but still no good for TiVo Desktop.

Has thing happen to any one else and if so what's the fix? Besides re-installing pyTivo?

It's hard to follow what you're saying. But if I understand you correctly... try rebooting the TiVo.

Have rebooted the TiVo. I even called TiVo on the phone before I know it was pyTivo fault. They could not get it fix.

I only know it got fixed when I moved pyTivo to another server. When I started it up I could see it get it's loading up it's pyTivo.conf

Then it worked. I guess will have to put a pic in here so people will know what's going on.

I tested transfer from the other HD TiVo and it works. It works too with tyTivo. But on my PC running "TiVo Desktop Version 2.8.2 (412369)" it can't transfer videos. It just says it will transfer later when the other one is done. But this is no other one to transfer.

The only time I seen this fix and when I installed tyTivo on another Linux server. It worked on the TiVo Desktop then. But after I transfer the fist time on the new server with pyTivo then it will not transfer any more from the PC.

Seems like pyTivo is don't send a done single to the TiVo. Or something. But then why does another TiVo work and pyTivo still works. I don't get it.

I did do a test. re-installing pytivo.

Code:
cd root
git clone git://github.com/wmcbrine/pytivo.git
cd pytivo
cp /root/pyTivo-do-new/pyTivo.conf /root/pytivo
python /root/pytivo/pyTivo.py

But that did not help. I can only think start with a new pyTivo.conf file.

I tested another video on TiVo Desktop and it worked. So something it wrong with the other video but it plays on the PC good.

There is no "done signal" to send. Beyond that, I can't really say what the problem is.

Does the same video work with pyTivo?

With pyTivo it starts and I get about 2 sec. on TiVo. But then it errors.

Right now I am converting it to h.264. I thought it was all ready that. Looks like it will take a few hours to convert it then I will test it again.

Wow got it working after all this time. I used "DivX Plus Converter" It converted it from .avi to .mkv and then on TiVo I said to transfer. For a sec. I was thinking it did not work ether. Because it said it has to wait for the other recording and no blue LED on saying any recording was transferring. But then the blue LED came on and it's transferring now.

Wow that DivX made it super small file size from 22.1 GB to 820 MB!

It came from a old Analog Hi8 tape. From a firewire using Nero to get it from the camcorder. I had Nero set to get it raw copy to the PC and it was .avi.

MediaInfo on the file that did not work says:

Commercial name : DVCPRO
Format profile : OpenDML

TiVo Desktop can see it and just say waiting for the other recording before it. But there is none. I guess they need to update TiVo Desktop.

I had this happen to a lot of videos. I just gave up. Now I guess just convert the ones that don't work to DivX.
