|

I have two (at least) issues going on with a new installation.
First, I cannot get the playon.py plugin to work. I have installed Django into my existing installation and added a playon subfolder with the playon.py plugin there. I'm not sure how to test the Diango installation and don't get any meaningful messages at the command prompt level.
Second, I'm getting dialog from Tivo (Series 2, network v6.2) and music and pictures are available in music and pictures, but access seems inconsistent. More importantly, no videos are showing up on the Now Playing List. I worked through the troubleshooting steps before posting this and all check out to the last step.
Any constructive ideas/steps will be appreciated!
Here is the pyTivo.conf file contents:

6.2 is a DirecTiVo version, isn't it? As noted here, among other places, unhacked DirecTiVos don't do video transfers. And for hacked TiVos, different software is used (not pyTivo).

Yes thanks for the reply and sorry for the double post.
There is other software, but I'm not aware of any software that will list videos on the NPL and allow use of playon on my Direct TV Tivo.
Do you know of a link to the different software (not pyTivo)?
Alternatively, do you know if pyTivo will pyTivo work with unhacked Tivo Premier or Elite?
As of Friday night, DirectTV stopped broadcasting local channels in my area and states that their engineers are working on it. Meantime, a message arrives that provides service upgrade sample for the next 2 days. I'm looking to pay for local programming and internet media only to get away from DirectTV.
Thanks!

No, I don't think there is any.

Of course. Those are the Series 4 units.

| Thank you very much for the replies. And from the other posts pytivo works with Series 3 too. I wonder if Series 2 with v6.2 will work with a digital tv converter box or if playon can be used with that same tivo unit. If not, looks like a series 3 or 4, a digital antenna and pytivo/playon will take care of it.

You shouldn't think of your unit as just "a Series 2"; it's a DirecTiVo Series 2. A DirecTiVo is physically incapable of tuning anything but DirecTV (except for the HR10-250; that model will also do OTA). It's completely different hardware from the standalone models. (The software version number tipped me off, but it's not the main difference.)

Ok I understand. Because the unit was hacked it does have network access on the USB port and there is software that allows for network file interchange but as I now understand, not streaming. It does have a lifetime service agreement and was ok until Direct TV turned off local channels. $45/month for a few cable channels is over the top. They said the local channels are free and the $45 was only for the non-local channels. lol So if I can find a series 3 or 4 at a reasonable price with lifetime service, I'll do that, get a digital antenna and take another shot at pyTivo/playon. BC the Directivo cannot be used with a digital/analog tuner, it may not have much value on ebay.
Thanks for the clarification!
