pyTivo was originally developed by Armooo, but he has recently taken a break from pyTivo. However, development has continued in his absence. Today pyTivo is developed as a distributed collaborative effort by pyTivo users. Each developer maintains a separate fork of pyTivo. These forks are frequently merged together, as such there is very little difference between them. Any major difference is noted below:

wmcbrine fork

This version is generally considered the stable mainline development branch and many fixes and enhancements are seen here first.

New users are recommended to start here

Go to the following link and click the "ZIP" button to obtain the latest version of the wmcbrine pyTivo fork.

lucasnz fork

(based on wmcbrine fork)

- ToGo and video share web UI improvements

- Mobile web UI

- audio_lang improvements

- adds more advanced MP4 remuxing with automatic audio transcoding to AC-3 for incompatible streams

- ability to specify temp share on pyTivo server to remux MP4 files reducing network traffic and increasing transfer speeds

- Support for dvdvideo plug-in so you don't need to run two different version of pyTivo - * This is a separate download

Older Versions

Available for history's sake however more recent versions have fixed many bugs and added many new features, there is very little support offered for older releases.

KRKeegan's Windows Installer

Rdian06's Windows installer - based on wmcbrine's fork

  • Windows Installer (Requires Python 2.4, 2.5, or 2.6 - NOT compatible with 2.7 or 3.x)
  • Once installed, it can be updated to the current version of pyTivo using this procedure.

TheBayer's last release, this version includes a plugin to read DVDs, and a modified ToGo plugin.
